The Discrimination Dilemma:  Legal Considerations in Overcoming Discrimination in Employment

How do we respond when clients and job candidates believe they have been treated unfairly in the employment process and ask us if they should consult an attorney?

Today’s organizations are comprised of multiple generations and much diversity. However, resistance to acceptance remains in many places and individuals are sometimes the victims of discrimination in employment, be it on the basis of age, gender, ethnic origin, race, disability or other legally protected categories.  Career counselors are often asked by their clients about pursuing legal action against a prospective or current employer and we want to provide correct and appropriate advice in such cases.

This interactive session will feature a prominent attorney specializing in employment law, James Bell, Esq.. James will present his perspective on what constitutes discrimination in employment, what is reasonable accommodation and what options individuals have to address such situations. In addition, we will learn how organizations defend themselves in discrimination cases and the various outcomes of litigation.  Current federal and state law and important judicial cases will also be discussed.

Come prepared with your questions for what will be a lively and engaging session on a topic we all need to know more about.
