"Mom, I Want To Be a Rockstar"

Discussing Future Plans with Children with Disabilities

(Transition Planning & the IEP)

As parents we want our kids to dream about their future job, and it’s normal for many kids to assume they will be a famous rock star or baseball player.  However, by the time they reach high school, we need to help them play a more active role in evaluating whether or not their “dream job” is a realistic goal.  This training will provide parents with some tips for talking with your child about their plans for the future. It will also give you some general information regarding IEP transition planning and development as you look ahead to transitioning from high school to the world of work for kids with disabilities.

**This workshop is designed for parents of students ages 13 and up.**
