2020 Canal Fest Arts & Craft Show

2020 Canal Fest of the Tonawandas
An eight day celebration of the Erie Canal which both divides, and joins the Western New York cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. This family focused festival attracts nearly 300,000 visitors each year to its scores of events and attractions. 

One of the premier events to the Canal Fest is the Annual Arts & Crafts Show held outdoors on the closing weekend. This small town setting of the Twin Cities' quaint downtown streets, features over 200 vendors, against the backdrop of the historical Erie Barge Canal.

Eligibility & Jury
This event is open to all artists and crafters 18 years or older in the U.S. and Canada. All crafts must be original. All crafts must meet guidelines set forth for each of the three zones described below, and are subject to Show Chairman’s discretion. Misrepresentation of your craft could result in relocation of your booth and/or additional fees.  Exhibiting artist must be present each day.

Artists & Crafters
-Traditional handmade crafts, original in design, sold by the artist and includes paintings and photography.

Buy & Sell Vendors 
 -Commercially manufactured/non-handmade items that are sold at retail.

 Commercial Sponsors  
- Service related industries or mass produced products, with corporate branding.

Notification, Fees, and Booth Assignments
Payment in full for each space desired at the rates listed about must accompany all applications.
BOOTH FEES: (1) Artist & Crafter $200; (2) Buy & Sell $300; (3) Commercial Sponsor $500
There is a $25 non-refundable processing fee should a crafter NOT be accepted into the show after application is received.

Notification letters of acceptance will be sent by May 15, 2020 via email or mail. Please mark your preference on the application how you would like to receive notification.

Space assignments will be made after exhibitor fees have been paid and will be announced by June 15, 2020 via notification letter email or mail. Decisions made by Canal Fest Arts & Crafts Show committee regarding space assignments are final.

Applications received after *APRIL 30, 2020* are subject to a $25 late fee and will be added to each entry fees. Payment can be made by check, money order, or credit card. Payments after June 1, 2020 must be in the form of a money order or paid by credit card online at http://carnegieartcenter.org/canal-fest-arts-crafts-show/
In the event of insufficient funds, you will be responsible for any bank fees incurred by Canal Fest.

Delay of sending in copy of Tax ID, payment, or photos may result in delay of acceptance notification.

Photos
All entries must include 5 photos.  Three (3) representative of craft or products to be displayed, one (1)  of the booth, and one (1) of the artist producing his/her craft.

Once registered, you will receive confirmation email and link for uploading images online.

Or mail photos to the Carnegie Art Center, 240 Goundry St., North Tonawanda, NY 14120.  Each image should be labeled on the back with name, address, and phone number.  Include a business sized self-addressed (or larger) stamped envelope for return of photos and space assignment.

Display Spaces
The show is held along the streets of the 2020 Canal Fest Campus. Please respect the businesses located on these streets. DO NOT BLOCK their doorways, or stack your inventory on the sidewalks. There are fire codes we have to adhere to and they will be enforced.

Spaces are approximately 10 ft. wide by 10 ft. deep. You must maintain a 3 foot space from your tent to the curb for water drainage in the event of rain (can be used for storage, but must be removed in the event of rain). All garbage and/or debris must be removed from your space at time of breakdown on Sunday.

Electricity is not available at the display spaces.

Parking is available, however it is not located on the festival campus.  No parking permit is required.  The parking laws in each city differ and must be obeyed.

Please be advised of the new laws of the Arts & Crafts Show.  All artists & vendors should be ready for opening at 10:00AM until the close at 5:00PM both days.  The campus will be closed to automobiles during breakdown until 5:30PM or until the area has been cleared of pedestrians.

Liability
Participation is at the artist’s risk.

ALL TENTS must be FLAME RETARDANT and display the tag showing a CPA184 Certification. All booths displaying lit candles, using hotplates or any heat generating source MUST HAVE an ABC FIRE EXTINGUISHER on-site and easily accessible.

Standard public security will be provided, however, the Carnegie Art Center, Tonawanda Council on the Arts, the Canal Fest Corporation, and the cities will not assume any responsibility for losses.

Application must be signed. By signing and submitting your application, you agree to and understand that CANAL FEST OF THE TONAWANDAS, INC is not responsible for any changes due to inclement weather.  Postponements and/or cancellations of 2019 Arts & Crafts Show due to weather conditions are beyond the control of CANAL FEST OF THE TONAWANDAS, INC.  No refunds for unused services, or allowance for the loss of enjoyment caused by weather conditions, acts of nature or other events that disrupt the Arts & Crafts Show event will be made by CANAL FEST OF THE TONAWANDAS, INC.

Submission to this festival constitutes agreement on the part of the entrant to all conditions of this prospectus.  Your contact information will be released to prospective customers and the NYS Department of Taxation.

Sales
All work must be for sale.   All exhibitors are required to have a Certificate of Authority for New York State Sales Tax, collect appropriate sales tax and have the Certificate of Authority on display during the Craft Show.   Call 518.485.2889 to obtain this form.
