(Cannot spend the whole day with us? Half day options are available)
The Prairie State Energy Campus is a technologically advanced electric generation facility owned by Midwestern public power entities. The campus includes a 1600-megawatt supercritical power plant and adjacent coal mine. Prairie State’s owners invested $1 billion in the Best Available Control Technology (BACT) to create the cleanest coal-fueled power plant in Illinois and one of the cleanest in the world.
Join us for a morning underground tour of the the mine, 250 feet below the surface with 6 1/2 feet to 7 feet clearance. After the underground tour enjoy lunch with all other members. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Power Plant. (There will be two groups, so schedule may vary).
Cannot join us the entire day? Half day tour options are available under registration.
