2019 Introductory Birding Course

This introductory birding course is designed for beginners who would like to gain the basic skills and information needed to enjoy the increasingly popular pastime of bird identification.

Classes will be held on Saturday mornings in February and March (see below for details).

Course topics include: selection of field guides and binoculars, the basics of field identification of birds, common San Diego area species, attracting backyard birds, seasonal changes, birding terms, an introduction to bird songs and more. The class will also include at least two all-morning field trips and features many color photos.

Lessons will be taught by San Diego River Park Foundation Board Member, Phil Pryde, who has experience identifying birds in all fifty states and 40 foreign countries and has taught this course for over twenty years.

This will be an excellent nature education opportunity for the whole family, and possibly the start of a life-long adventure! We hope to see you there.
