Know Your Rights Train-the-Trainer Presentation: Teach Your Team How to Empower Immigrants and Asylum Seekers

Cost: $50 (light lunch provided)

Target Audience: Leadership staff, program managers, supervisors of direct service staff

Community Action and other human services staff work with individuals and families in need from all walks of life, and from all corners of the globe. In today’s world, it is important that staff who work directly with those served by human services organizations are familiar with the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers who come through your doors for help.

The Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project provides free legal services to asylum seekers and promotes the rights of detained immigrants. In this train-the-trainer session, a PAIR lawyer will share resources and information you can use to train your employees to empower the people they serve by helping them to:

  • Understand the current situation on the ground
  • Understand their rights when encountered by immigration officers
  • Understand what they can do to prepare themselves and their families
  • Understand where to go for help
