How to Start a Nonprofit Business: A Practical Guide

Interested in starting a nonprofit?
This interactive workshop will take you step by step through the process of starting and running a successful nonprofit.

Governor Cuomo has changed the the nonprofit law for the first time in 40 years. This workshop will outline some of the most important changes and how they relate to your business.

YOU WILL LEARN:

Nonprofits, after all, are just companies, but different. We will show you how, and how to manage the differences. After this seminar, for example, you will understand why the following is true, false, or some of each:

  • The consumer buys the product
  • Price covers the cost and eventually produces profits
  • The nonprofit may spend its money as it wishes
  • Price is derived from suppliers charges and consumers ability to pay
  • Profit drops to the bottom line and is available for expanding and improving business.
  • Investing in infrastructure improves efficiency and profitability
  • Overhead is a regular cost of doing business which varies with business type and its maturity

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Individuals seriously considering starting their own nonprofit organization
  • Prospective members of executive management (The Board of Directors, Executive Directors, CFO’s, Controllers and Program Directors) and prospective contributors.

Instructors:
