JourneyMen - Men's Heits Point Retreat 

Some athletes can "talk" a great game, but that tells you nothing about their athletic skills. And not everyone who talks about heaven lives a life that reflects the image of Jesus. Jesus is more concerned about our "walk" than our "talk." He wants us to do right, not just say the right words. Your house (which represents your life - our theme verse) will withstand the storms of life only if you do what is right instead of just talking about it. Some men wonder if they are really Christians. If that's you - start acting like one. Some men jabber about their intense faith. If that's you - just show your faith in faithful living.

Jesus' true followers not only hear his words, but they act on his words, building their faith on a firm Rock solid foundation - Jesus. The one who builds "on rock" is a hearing, responding disciple, not a phony superficial one. The apostle James would later write, "But be doers of the Word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. For if any are hears of the Word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act - they will be blessed in their doing" (James 1:22-25 nrsv).

All men 18+ are welcomed to attend. We have grants availabe for men who are unable to cover the event fee. Please do not allow funding to keep you from attending. Contact Pastor Rod if financial assistance is need.

Retreat Theme: Build On The Rock

Retreat Theme Verse: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house in the rock" (Matthew 7:24).

Retreat Theme Text: Matthew 7:24-29, Ephesians 2:17-22

Retreat Cost: $60 (Pay now via PayPal or later via check payable to TIMOTHY LUTHERAN)

Stay: Stay Friday night or Friday and Saturday Night. Saturday after the closing service is Giys Night. Take time to fellowship and enjoy.

Friday:

Carpool opportunity from Timothy (RD Mize Road) – 9am

Lunch: Heit’s Point Spitz Center – Noon

Opening Devotion: 12:30pm (For those who arrive early)

Dinner: JourneyMen Hall 6pm – by JourneyMen

Camp Fire Welcome/Devotion – 7:30pm Pastor Rod Lindemann

Saturday:

Breakfast: Spitz Center – 8:15am

Session 1 Study: BUILD ON A ROCK – 8:45-9:30am - Dave Smith

               Break (9:30-9:45)

Session 2 Study: Don't Be Foolish – 9:45-10:45am - Pastor Rod

Lunch: JounreyMen Hall 1pm – by JourneyMen

Session 3 Study with Communion: Firm Foundation – 4:30pm Pastor Rich

Retreat officially ends following the closing service – Fellowship time for the remainder of the evening. (Note: Alcohol allowed after the closing session)

Sunday:

Depart as you please. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the facilities.
