What’s On Florida’s Docket?
Current Directions in Environmental Policy
Speaker: Ray Judah, Florida Coastal and Ocean Coalition Coordinator and former Lee County Commissioner (1988-2012)
November 11, 2013
During his 24-year tenure on the Lee County Commission, Ray Judah used his educational and work experience in natural resource management to inform his policy-making. Connecting a healthy economy to a healthy environment, he was the driving force behind Conservation 20/20, Lee County’s land acquisition program. He co-founded CREW (Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed), a program that helps protect Estero Bay and nearby coastal waters. He continues to advocate for policies that protect our waters and currently coordinates the work of the Florida Coastal and Ocean Coalition, a group of organizations working together to protect and restore Florida’s coastal and marine environment.
Ray Judah will discuss the importance of land acquisition programs at both the state and local levels, including their intricate connection to water quality issues. In addition, he will offer his perspective on the environmental issues most likely to surface in the up-coming legislative session.
