How Good Is My Business Idea?

Launching a new business and getting ready to lead a successful company can be overwhelming and confusing. Most founders and aspiring entrepreneurs are unfamiliar with how to create realistic business models or how to assemble all of the information they need to assess the commercial viability of their idea. Often we underestimate our readiness by starting too quickly “out of the gates” only to soon realize that more time should have been devoted to building a plan, studying the market, and getting to know the customer. The result is that the idea and business quickly loses steam.

So, what can be done to prepare entrepreneurs for the hyper-competitive world of start-ups? Is there a framework that entrepreneurs can use that creates a clearer picture of what the idea will look like as a successful business and increase the odds in their favor?

In this three and a half hour workshop, you will learn hands-on strategies and planning techniques so you can decide if your idea is ready to launch as a business or whether you could benefit from more planning.Topics covered include how to:

  • Make business decisions with greater clarity and accuracy
  • Use a streamlined process to develop your idea
  • Create a personalized toolkit to help guide your planning
  • Develop credible “go to market” and fundraising strategies
  • Craft your company's Minimum Viable Story™
  • Use Bend the Curve™ to start and grow faster and smarter

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will know if they are ready to launch, to start a new venture or whether additional planning is necessary or desirable. This is an interactive workshop and all attendees are encouraged to participate and to collaborate with their fellow entrepreneurs. During this workshop you will also have the opportunity to meet and network with other local entrepreneurs and business people and upon completion will learn how to get a business mentor at SCORE for the life of your business- for free!

This workshop was created by Greg Paley led the development of Geo-Domains and the creation of online communities. He has more than 20 years experience as an executive, adviser, commercial lawyer, and mentor. Greg has counseled hundreds of entrepreneurs and early stage companies and frequently speaks on entrepreneurship, business, and leadership.[Recordings, transcribing, electronic note-taking, and photos are not permitted].

We now require pre-registration and pre-payment for all workshops. If you have met with a mentor, are in the SEAP program, or are registering for three or more workshops at once, please email us at greaterseattle@scorevolunteer.org for a discount code.
