Webinar: The change process in coaching - Tuesday 25 September 2018 @ 18.30 cet

The change process in coaching:

interpersonal synchrony and self-regulation

as lynchpins of goal attainment

with

Tünde Erdös & Gregor Heise

About the webinar

How many things do we do in our life individually?

Almost nothing. But, leadership, organisational change management, democracies, and coaching - all of these require relationships,  By studying synchrony, we gain access to dynamics between people i,e, between client and coach.

Understanding synchrony is a new direction for research in coaching psychology, which has long been preoccupied with techniques and what coaches need to do to support clients’ goal-attainment. It quietly shifts our discipline’s fundamental assumptions: Perhaps the brain expects to in relationships with others, since that makes staying protected and finding resources so much easier.

The earliest and best-documented variety is behavioural synchrony. Research shows that moving in sync creates feelings of trust and closeness. In coaching, trust and closeness are found to be two main predictors of effectiveness. What’s the state of play? Interpersonal synchrony has not been studied in connection with trust and rapport in coaching yet.

Tuende Erdoes Tünde Erdös holds a Master’s Degree in Executive Coaching earned at the Ashridge Centre for Coaching at Hult International Business School, which is backed up by six years of experience as an executive coach. She is also an Ashridge Accredited Executive Coach and has recently embarked on a PhD trajectory at ABRI - Amsterdam Business Research Institute of VU University, Amsterdam.

She offers a psycho-dynamic approach focussing on the ’players on the stage’ in what seems to be a mature model in addressing tasks and goals in a cyclical, recursive, reflective and reflexive process. The approach grew out of the requirement in her coaching work that 'You can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink'.  Additionally, she offers a relational stance: “'t’s always both'. Creating and working in effective systems takes assuming responsibility for what we create and co-create.

In being genuinely curious about how we can become grounded in this inter-connectedness she is confident to enable clients cognitively and emotionally to develop effective and fully-engaged realities in their organisation.

Gregor Heise Gregor Heise has been a trainer, coach, and counsellor since 1990.  Gregor Heise holds a master’s degree in educational theory and special needs education.  Studies of family and system counsellor.  Certification TOP-EOS trainer (PSI-Theory) with Prof. Dr. Julius Kuhl. The focus of his work: potential diagnostic, personal leadership, executive development, conflict management and communication trainings.

Gregor Heise is convinced that personal satisfaction depends on a reliable access to one’s self. Especially in tough situations or painful life-events which cause stress, this access may be hard to gain. According to the PSI-theory of Julius Kuhl stress diminishes the access to the self. The TOP-diagnostics analyzes a client up to 130 parameters. That allows one to validly hypothesise of what is going on within a person’s psyche. These insights can be used in coaching or training for clear interventions and client-centered designs in order to  make the work much more effective.
