EMCC International webinar: Geoff Pelham & Jane Atherton @ 18.00 cet

Evidence of success:

the results of a coaching culture

About the webinar

There is widespread interest in the possibilities of coaching cultures as a way of addressing the many challenges facing today’s organisations. At the same time there is considerable uncertainty as to what such a culture looks like in practice, what’s needed to create it, and, most importantly, what are the results; what is the impact of such aculture on those working in the organisation and the services it provides? This webinar reports on research carried out by Professor Sean Kelly and Dr Camilla Noonan from University College Dublin (UCD) Business School and Dr Geoff Pelham from Novum, into the coaching culture at New Charter Group, an organisation that began as an underperforming local authority housing department 16 years ago and has since appeared for eight consecutive years in the Sunday Times Best 100 Not For Profiit Companies To Work For list, has achieved Investors in People Gold three times and has improved productivity levels across all key performance indicators. The researchers were given access to organisational documents related to coaching and interviewed and shadowed people working across all levels within the organisation,

Dr Geoff Pelham is Director of Research at Novum, a leading coaching company in the UK. He is also author of the recently published ‘Coaching Relationship in Practice’.He is a coach, coach supervisor, and director of open and in-house coaching programmes, including post-graduate EMCC coaching programes in the UK and Ireland. He is also involved with organisations that are investing in developing coaching cultures, addressing such questions as how to embed and sustain such aculture for the long term and ways of evidencing the impact of a coaching approachon performance, both within the organisation and in relation to its key stakeholders. More generally, Geoff is interested in relational and existential approaches tocoaching, enabling practitioners to work more effectively with the psychologicaldimension of coaching, particularly the interplay between individual experience and organisational culture.

Jane Atherton has a varied role as Director of People & Risk at the New Charter Group. Joining New Charter ten years ago, Jane took forward the work that hadalready begun to develop a coaching culture and has deeply embedded it into the way the organisation works. Jane is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development,an Independent Board Member for Ashton Pioneer Homes and is Chair of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers HR and OD Group.
