Values and Ethics in Coaching

About the webinar

This webinar will discuss the importance of embedding values and ethics in coaching practice. It will start with questioning why values and ethics matter, and should be an integral part of coaching practice. It will then delve into the key ethical considerations in the coaching relationship, such as contacticting and evidence based practice. It will conclude with examples from various coaching contexts such as education, business and sports coaching. The partcipants will be given the opportunity to engage in a discussions and reflect on various ethical dilemmas which may arise during a coaching session.

Ioanna Iordanou Dr Ioanna Iordanou is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (Coaching and Mentoring) at Oxford Brookes University, where she is fortunate to be part of a superb team of colleagues who make up the International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies. As part of her role, she teaches modules on Coaching and Mentoring, Management and Leadership, and Social Science Research. Her passion lies in researching coaching and mentoring and embedding the study and practice of coaching skills in undergraduate curricula. She holds an MA, PhD, a Certificate, and a Diploma in Coaching from the University of Warwick.

Rachel HawleyRachel Hawley is a Coach, lecturer and researcher with teaching experience in the fields of healthcare leadership and management. Holding an MSc in Coaching and Mentoring, she has over 25 years experience of working with a wide range of organisations in the public sector at local, regional, national and European levels, where staff public, learner and engagement has extensively underpinned her experience. She is experienced in managing high profile national projects, skilled in providing expert consultancy, leading organisational and cultural change in complex organisations with a proven track record working through ambiguity to develop and translate national policy to local goals and practice. She is currently undertaking her Doctorate in Professional Studies at Sheffield Hallam University, exploring the influences on leadership for public engagement; seeking to understand how leadership identity for public engagement is constructed and sustained. 

Christiana Iordanou Christiana Iordanou is a licensed Psychologist and Dramatherapist offering her services in Athens, Greece. She holds an MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology from Loughborough University and an MSc in Developmental Psychology from Lancaster University. Having faith in the healing and cathartic power of art, particularly drama, she completed a 4-year postgraduate professional training in Dramatherapy at the ‘AEON’ Dramatherapy Institute (Athens), and further postgraduate training in Group Analytic Psychotherapy in the University of Athens Medical School, 1st Dpt of Psychiatry. She has extensive experience working with individuals dealing with various mental health difficulties, young children and their parents, and young athletes. She is indebted to her clients for giving her the opportunity to accompany them on their personal journeys to healing and self-actualisation. Her passion for ongoing continuing professional development in her field has led to my desire to pursue a PhD. She is currently a Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Psychology in Lancaster University. For this endeavour, she has been awarded a fully funded scholarship by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology.
