Professor David Clutterbuck is one of the two original founders of the EMCC.
He is visiting professor in the coaching and mentoring faculties at three universities, he is author our co-author of 65 books, including 'Beyond Goals', with Susan David and David Megginson.
About the webinar
From a naive assumption that 'good' coaching involved setting and pursuing SMART goals, various studies in recent years have developed a much more nuanced perspective of the role of goal management. Evidence for the dark side of goal obsession or overly narrow objectives has emerged and it appears that goal-free (or more accurately target-free) coaching is more aligned with the self-discovery nature of transformational coaching.
In this webinar, David Clutterbuck will review some of the growing database of evidence on goals in coaching, illustrating the complexities involved and the implications these have for coaches and mentors in helping their clients establish, evolve and move beyond initial goals. He will explore some practical tools for working with goals at each stage of coaching relationship. Finally, he will engage with participants in reviewing where future research into goals and coaching could most practically and most usefully be focused.
