EPEAT Conformity Assessment Training - Portland, OR

October 8 -11, 2012             Portland, Oregon, United States

for Verifiers, Product Registration Entities, Manufacturers,
Suppliers and Consultants

Covering the EPEAT® system, the IEEE 1680.1 standard for computers and computer displays, the 1680.2 standard for Imaging Equipment and the 1680.3 standard for televisions

EPEAT® is the premier environmental rating system to help purchasers evaluate, compare  and select greener IT. EPEAT currently covers computers (Desktops, Laptops, Thin Clients, Workstations), and computer monitors/displays. The EPEAT system is expanding to include imaging equipment (printers, copiers, scanners, facsimile machines, multifunction devices, digital duplicators and mailing machines) and televisions in early 2013.

EPEAT scores products across more than 50 environmental performance criteria, and conducts ongoing third-party verification of manufacturer claims. EPEAT’s simple yet powerful Bronze, Silver or Gold product-specific rating is well-recognized in the marketplace, making it easy for manufacturers to demonstrate the environmental attributes of their products and for purchasers to select greener electronics for their homes and businesses.

EPEAT covers 42 countries and has more participating manufacturers across more rated IT products than any other environmental registry, enabling purchasers to compare and select products from local or global suppliers based on environmental excellence.

This course will teach the EPEAT® system and the IEEE 1680.1 standard for computers and computer displays, the 1680.2 standard for Imaging Equipment and the 1680.3 standard for televisions, from product declaration through verification. Delegates who successfully complete the full 4-day training and pass the certificate exam will be EPEAT-certified to perform conformity assessment and verification.

Hotel Options
We have negotiated a discounted group rate at the Mark Spencer Hotel, where the training will take place at the cost of $129 per night for standard queen/king rooms and $169 per night for an executive king suite. To reserve a room at this special pricing, please call Dave Spacek at 1-800-548-3934 or email him at hospitality@markspencer.com by Tuesday, September 25th. Let him know that you are with the EPEAT group.

Manufacturers who take the course will be able to use the EPEAT environmental rating system. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the system operations and standard requirements. You will learn in detail the product declaration process; the product, service and corporate criteria; and the verification process.

Suppliers who participate will be able to assist customers to qualify products to the EPEAT standards. You will learn what proof is required for the different product criteria, and how to help manufacturers maintain supporting information for their product declaration.

Consultants who take the course will be competent to provide product registration and verification support services to manufacturers registering products in EPEAT.  Upon passing the final exam, you will also be certified to perform verification within the EPEAT® system as an independent contractor working under the management of an organization that has been qualified as a Product Registration Entity (PRE).

Prospective Verifiers who complete the course and pass the exam can use that certification to apply to work with an organization that conducts verifications to the IEEE 1680 family of standards. Qualified Verifiers are either employees or consultants who investigate the claims of manufacturers regarding their products against the requirements of the standards.
