Expedition Field Camp Fall 2019

***Students are responsible for bringing their own bike helmets and tuned mountain bikes (mountain bikes may be rented from Bicycle Sportshop on South Lamar

Day 1

• Meet @ Expedition School, Austin, TX
• Lakes and Rivers: Paddling techniques with kayaks, canoes + Stand Up Paddling
• Basic Water Rescue certification
• Water clean up
• Swimming in local watering hole (we are monitoring the cyanobacteria levels in Lady Bird Lake and will paddle in the healthiest local body of water)

Day 2

• Meet @ Expedition School, Austin, TX
• Mountain Biking 101
• Mountain Bike Maintenance
• Swimming in local watering hole
• * students to bring recently tuned and ready to ride mountain bike + appropriately fitted helmet

Day 3

• Meet @ Expedition School, Austin, TX
• Mountain Biking
• Intro to Rock Climbing
• Basic rock climbing knots
• Intro to belaying
• Swimming in local watering hole

Day 4

• Meet @ Expedition School, Austin, TX
• Hike in local sanctuary
• Rock Climbing
• Ecology

Day 5

• Meet @ Expedition School, Austin, TX
• Expedition Day: Students planned an expedition!
• Students plan a day of outdoor fun based on the lessons learned throughout the week. Destination: TBD
