Newly Elected Leaders Orientation 

Join your fellow newly elected public leaders from cities and towns across Rhode Island for a two-day conference at Bryant University organized by the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership, the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns, and the Rhode Island Association of School Committees.

The deadline to register is Monday, Dec. 17, 2018. However, space is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to register early.

Municipal leaders will have the opportunity to learn essential skills, exchange ideas with peers, and explore the unique challenges and rewards of public service. Workshop topics include ethics, conflict of interest, financial oversight, fiduciary responsibility, trade-offs, tough decisions, roles and responsibilities, knowing the players, collective bargaining, open meetings, and public conversations.

We want to remove any barriers to participation. That's why we're offering this event at no cost. Bryant University is providing outstanding teaching facilities at its campus in Smithfield, RI. The Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership has covered the cost of faculty and complimentary meals, and together with the RI League of Cities and the RI Association of School Committees, is covering the cost of all conference materials and promotion.

If you prefer to stay overnight, the Hassenfeld Institute can also provide financial assistance with accommodations. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hampton Inn in Smithfield.
