Indianapolis Chapter CSI January 2016 Meeting:

The ADA Quiz

The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI is having its January Chapter Meeting at the Willows on Westfield on Thursday, January 21 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

So you think you know the ADA? Or even if you don’t, please join the discussion in this interactive presentation to test your knowledge of subjects related to accessibility, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the ICC/ANSI A117.1. The ADA has been around for over 25 years, yet there is still much confusion and misinformation in the industry on exactly what the requirements are, when those requirements apply and even which document or standard should be referenced to find the answer. With the primary enforcement of ADA being legal action brought by those who feel they have been discriminated against, facility owners and managers, architects, designers and construction professional could all learn more about the details of the ADA and how to avoid its risks.
This presentation builds upon the first one ever given at the Indianapolis Chapter CSI meeting in April 2014. Since that time, this speaker has traveled the State and beyond, including to CONSTRUCT 2015 in St Louis, delivering and further developing this “Quiz” into a very informative discussion on accessibility topics.

Learning Objectives:
 ·         Develop a better understanding of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities

 ·         Discuss differences between various accessibility codes and standards and how to determine which applies to your project

 ·         Study some of the common ADA mistakes made in the design and construction of buildings·         Acquire real world answers to accessibility questions on current projects
