1. Describe the current condition of building codes & rating systems from a market perspective.
2. Explain reasons to pursue LEED certification, and strive for LEED v4.
3. Compare and Contract LEED v3 and LEED v4.
4. Outline the requirements/prerequisites which design teams need to address.
5. Provide highlights of the sustainability aspects included in LEED v4.
6. Explain definitions, standards and requirements common to the LEED Rating system.
About the Presenter:
Stewart Whitcomb (AIA, LEED AP BD+C) of Guidon Design accomplished in designing high performance commercial, municipal and federal facilities. His education and background as an architect roused an interest in the functionality of all things, and passion for attaining sustainability. Stewart is dedicated to developing creative, cost-effective and sustainable project solutions. His experience independently consulting for contractors and designers through the LEEDŽ rating system and other ‘Green’ certification processes fortifies both his broad base of understanding and emphasis on elegant design solutions.
Stewart’s involvement with the local organizations and the USGBC foster continuous exposure to the latest concerns and developments in the green building industry, such as LEED v4, the Living Building Challenge and the Local food and urban agriculture movement. He has served as the USGBC Indiana Chapter Chair, USGBC-IN Indianapolis Branch’s Chair, and continues on the Indiana USGBC Chapter’s Board of Directors. He is currently on the USGBC’s Heartland Regional Committee, serving as Chair.
