Join aquatic biologist, Pete Lent, for an informative, hands-on identification training to further your aquatic macroinvertebrate identification skills. This workshop will largely rely upon microscope work to identify insects collected from local streams. As part of the training, participants will learn about the life history of aquatic insects, role of these insects in freshwater aquatic ecosystems, and insect structure, morphology and adaptations. Educators will also learn about invasive species in the benthic community and the new invasive species component to the Finger Lakes Regional Stream Monitroing Network.
Educators will receive 5 hours of CTLE credits, identification guides and educator resources.
