The San Francisco Bay Chapter strives to bring you educational programs through out the year. We are proud to present our Educational Workshops! All who register benefit from the courses offered and will receive continuing education credit by attending.
Federal: Our Workshop will cover year two of “The Tax Cuts and Job Act of 2017” with items that will affect your clients 2019 tax returns. The bill made major changes to the tax code, as we saw with most of our client's 2018 returns. The ACA penalty for not having insurance and divorcees who get the tax benefits are just two of many items to be covered. Many new forms including the revised Form 1040, new Form 1040SR, NOL changes and tracking, federal interaction with AB5 and very importantly the new K-1 requirements will be reviewed. Also, Laws that have been better defined by regulations; such as the 199A Qualified Business and Opportunity Zone. We will visit the business changes – from meals, transportation, depreciation, and how will it affect our clients. The Workshop will cover these areas, as well as discuss issues which may remain as potential pitfalls for correctly preparing this year’s returns.
State: The California Update discussion will cover the CA changes for individuals and businesses impacting the 2020 filing season. The topics will include the latest agency pronouncements and changes for 2019 from FTB, CDTFA, SOS, and EDD. The materials will have the latest amounts and limits for various deductions and credits. More importantly, we will also look at the implementation of AB5 classifications in 2020.
