Chateau Hough Tour and Wine Tasting

Cornell’s course on wines was always one of the school’s most popular (and failed) offerings.  Don’t miss your chance to brush up on your wine swilling technique, drinking wine from Cornell vines planted and grown right here on Cleveland’s east side!

Chateau Hough, started by Mansfield Frazier, is a vineyard and winery located in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland designed to give returning convicts and at-risk youth an opportunity to earn a paycheck, as well as to make productive use of local vacant land.

Cornell worked with Frazier to develop a freeze-tolerant varietal of Gewürztraminer called Traminette that is now producing wine at a time when many of the area vines were killed by the polar vortex a few years back.

Join us for a tour of Chateau Hough’s vineyards, taste the wine, and hear the story of Chateau Hough and how Cornell helped along the way.
