Purpose
We will explore the stages of trauma treatment and how they apply to the Latinx communities and their needs. We will also discuss trauma and Latinx-specific interventions in the hope to support your capacity to further develop your unique strategies.
Lucrecia Suarez, LCSW
Lucrecia Suarez, LCSW is the current Clinical Manager for the Intercultural Counseling Center at Catholic Charities of Oregon. She is also an Adjunct Faculty at PSU School of Social Work teaching Latinx and Trauma specific classes. Her professional curiosity and passion continues to be in the art of weaving cultural idiosyncrasies and intersectionality in trauma treatment. She obtained her degree in Psychology in Venezuela in 1988 and her Master in Social Work at Portland State University in 1992.
Alexandra Cimpan, LPC
Alexandra Cimpan, LPC specializes in trauma informed care with an emphasis on holistic and somatic approaches. She operates a small private practice, supports the Intercultural Counseling Center at Catholic Charities as the Clinical Supervisor, and offers educational and consulting services. She has worked in the mental health field in Portland since 2014 providing services in outpatient mental health settings. Alexandra completed her Master in Counseling at Palo Alto University in 2015.
