Join us for education sessions, our AGM, and an opportunity to network with your colleagues in the Non-Profit Housing Sector.
9:30am - Registration, light breakfast
10:00am-12:00pm - Chose from one of two concurrent workshops:
a. Strong and Engaged Boards: Now and into the Future (Panel): An engaged board of directors is the foundation of a successful non-profit organization. Hear from experienced board members what keeps them active and involved in ‘keeping the vision’ of non-profit housing, and from new board members what attracted them to joining a housing board, and what they need to be successful
b. Respectful Workplaces: Human Resources made headlines this year in Manitoba, causing many Board members and managers to question if they have the proper policies and training in place. The best place to start is with Respectful Workplaces training, provided by People First HR. The training covers:
12:00pm-12:30pm - Lunch
12:45pm-1:15pm - AGM
1:30pm-3:00pm - Plenary Session: A Year-in-Review of the National Housing Strategy
Last year, housing providers across Canada celebrated the return of the Federal Government to housing policy and leadership. MNPHA’s AGM featured a summary of the National Housing Strategy, with the programs that were recently or soon to be released.
A year in, we’ll hear from housing policy leaders about what the National Housing Strategy has meant for community housing in Canada and Manitoba:
Featuring: David Hulchanski (via Skype from Toronto); Tom Carter; Sarah Cooper; Moderated by Mary-Agnes Welsh
Registration for the workshops is $30 for volunteers or employees of MNPHA Member organizations; $50 for non-members. Registration for the AGM only is no cost.
