College Bound Essentials - Homeschool Edition

With all of the many benefits of home schooling, knowing how to navigate the college preparation process, college selection, scholarship competition and the essential school forms and documentation can be duanting.  Ms. Hartley has worked with hundreds of home school students in the past and has seen them successfully win full scholarships and admissions to such colleges as Harvard, Stanford, Washington and Lee, Presbyterian, Anderson, North Greenville, Erskine, Boston University, American, Liberty, and many more.

At the suggestion of a homeschool parent, she has created this custom class to specifically address the unique needs of college bound homeschool students and the essential documentation that the parent needs to prepare in order to represent your home school as professionally as possible.

Just as the name implies, this workshop is an essential session for college-bound home educated students who wants to get their best admission opportunities and secure the highest scholarship offers possible.  Parents are welcome to come along at no extra charge.

Students attending this session will receive a comprehensive, hardcover
College Success Workbook to guide them through all aspects of college preparation.

Where?

This session will take place at Good Samaritan Methodist Church in Lake Wylie.  It is at 5220 Crowders Cove Lane in Lake Wylie, SC.  (It is diagonally across from Walgreens and directly in front of Food Lion at the intersection of highways 49, 557 and 274 in Lake Wylie.

Who should come?

Rising 9th-12th graders will absolutely benefit from this workshop; although motivated 7th and 8th graders have also benefitted in previous sessions.  This information is most helpful when students and parents can learn it sooner than later so that they have more time to act on it before the senior year.

What will we learn?  This class will give students and parents valuable information on how to make the decisions throughout high school that will result in maximum admission offers and scholarship money.  In recent monthsMs. Hartley's own daughter, a college sophomore at Dartmouth, won over $800,000 in merit scholarship money to top schools (Sewanee, Furman, Wofford, High Point Univ., Univ of Oklahoma and more). And, she has a high school junior and freshman about to go through the process.

 Specifically, the class will:

  • Teach students how to get full ride offers to over 200 schools with just one test
  • How to build a homeschool transcript, profile and resume that will result in the best admission offers
  • How to go to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Brown, MIT and more for FREE (really)
  • Teach them how to find their best college fits
  • Cover basic interview skills
  • Teach students how to tour and evaluate a college as it relates to the student’s interests
  • Identify the best and least expensive ways to increase SAT and ACT scores
  • Encourage them to take “ownership” of this next stage in their lives, to be proactive, organized and serious about this decision and help them strategize a game plan to get their best results!

The price of $75 applies to each student attending but parents are encouraged to attend at no extra charge.  When registering, only enroll the student, not the parent.  Extra students can be registered at the same time for the same price by listing them as Guests.
