AML Hot Topics
and the Customer Due Diligence Final Rule

June 15, 2018
Chicago

The RMA Chicago Chapter is holding an informative event regarding AML and the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Final Rule.  This discussion will be led by Nick Mustafa, who is a Director in the Risk Advisory Services practice of RSM US LLP.  With the CDD rule going into effect on May 11, 2018, this discussion will provide a timely update for our members regarding issues they should be considering for the implementation of this new compliance requirement.  Nick will also provide a discussion on AML hot topics, including model risk management and cryptocurrencies.

About the Speaker:

Nick Mustafa leads RSM’s Great Lakes AML and Regulatory Compliance Practice. He previously worked for a Big Four auditing firm as the BSA/AML Risk Assurance Midwest Regional Leader for more than four years before joining RSM in December 2015. Nick works with community banks, credit unions, regional banks, mortgage lenders, insurance companies, broker-dealers and distributors, mutual funds, trust companies, money service businesses, as well as the very largest banks and financial institutions in the world. He has more than twenty years of banking experience in critical areas, including the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, fair lending, regulatory compliance, banking operations, vendor management, model risk management, and enterprise risk management. He has assisted clients with internal audit services, compliance testing, model validations, risk assessments, compliance assessments, automated systems and tools, and regulatory remediation and validation. Prior to consulting, Nick held various senior level management positions at Chicago-area banks.

Nick has helped regulated financial organizations manage through regulatory scrutiny and enforcement actions. More specifically, he assisted several clients with validation of remediated regulatory findings by leveraging industry leading internal audit methodologies and customizing them to fit the unique needs of the client, and by meeting the expectations of our client’s regulator(s).

Nick earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, a Master of Science of Accountancy and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
