Fundamentals of Agricultural Finance

Seminar Description

The RMA Wisconsin Chapter is happy to present ‘Fundamentals of Agricultural Finance’.  Lower commodity prices the past several years have presented compressed profit margins for producers and enhanced credit challenges for ag lenders. This session will help you understand some of the current dynamics in agriculture and provide you with best practices in agricultural underwriting to assist in assessing repayment capacity and balance sheet strength.

Following are some proposed components:

  • Trends in agricultural economics
  • Balance sheet analysis
  • Analysis of income statements
  • Conversion of cash income statements to accrual
  • Determining debt coverage ratios and repayment capacity
  • Key measures used in evaluating the financial condition and profitability of farm businesses
  • Management of credit challenges
  • Building the relationship
  • Case studies

Who should attend

Ag Bankers, Commercial Lenders, Farm Managers and Credit Analysts with limited to intermediate experience.
