American Society of Quality Dinner Forum

Speaker Topic: "IP Quality Considerations for Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs)"

Description:

Application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) accounted for a  significant portion of the $USD336B worldwide semiconductor market sales in 2015.  ASICs are generally built using standard cells and embedded memories for the digital functions (the "secret sauce"), plus third-party circuit blocks (known as "intellectual property", or IP) for processor cores, interface, power management, and analog functions.  IP can easily cost up to $10M for a single ASIC, and IP quality is a major risk for ASIC development.  This presentation describes common IP quality metrics, plus a typical IP QA process for ASICs.
