Please join us on Friday, April 11, 2014 for an important discussion with local experts on the impacts and opportuntities regarding the medical marjuana and gaming industry here in Massachusetts. This event will bring together economic development practitioners, private industry professionals, and Chamber Executives from accross the Commonwealth who are engaged in local and statewide economic development. This promises to be a great event and an important opportunity for you to network with your statewide colleagues!

The Medical Marijuana Act went into effect on January 1, 2013 and the Department of Public Health has issued regulations and approved 20 Registered Marijuana Dispensaries. We will examine how local economic development practitioners and municipal leaders are implementing those regulations through substantive zoning bylaws and ordinances. We will also hear from speakers regarding what impacts local economic development practitioners can expect from legalized commercial casino gaming in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Expert presenters will examine how the development of up to three large destination-style casinos in different regions of the state will affect tax revenues and local economic development.
