Barker’s Kids’ Groups are a great opportunity for children who were adopted to share their experiences about adoption in a nurturing and safe environment. Barker’s facilitators use games and art projects to engage the children to explore their thoughts about adoption and express themselves. The groups also assist in educating children on how to answer questions about adoption, empowering them to realize that they can decide how much of their adoption stories they are comfortable sharing (or not) and assuring them that they are not alone. Please note that new content has been added to the sessions, so even if a child has previously attended a Kids' Group, new material will be covered.
The Kids’ Groups include 2 sessions; attendance at both group sessions is required. There will be a fifteen minute wrap–up session for parents at the end of each session.
