Join us at the State House!
Rhode Island Families for School Choice has begun organizing its annual rally for expanded parental choice in education in Rhode Island. The event will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 12:30 till 4:30PM at the State House. The theme of this year’s event is “Raise the CAP” on the state’s graduation rates by raising the cap on the State of Rhode Island education corporate tax credit program. Our Catholic School Parent Federation is supporting this initiative and is seeking your help to make this year’s event a success. Let’s become the “Voice for School Choice” and collectively request that our Governor “Raise the CAP” on the corporate tax credit program for education in the upcoming budget.
Students from around the State of Rhode Island are requested to contact the Governor and their State Representatives and Senators requesting that the CAP be raised from $1.5 million to $5 million dollars in education corporate tax credits in the 2017-2018 Budget Bill. Wouldn’t you and your school communities want to join the movement? Wouldn’t your families want to see this become a reality?
Our school will have an exhibit table at the State House and some of our students will be performing the national school choice dance at 4PM. We are encrouageing all age groups to participate! The middle school students will be learning the dance but elemnetary students that would like to particiapte can stand on the steps around them waving scarves and swaying to the music!
The Catholic School Office has received and deposited a contribution check from our transportation sponsor. This sponsor is offering to pay for a free bus service from our school to the State House and back. In order to utilize this donation it is imperative that we fill those busses with happy kids and chaperones eager to attend the rally and to meet with their own local reps and senators to speak with them about expanding school choice and to “Raise the CAP”. Help us fill the bus! We will leave MCS at 1:30 and depart the State House by 4:40. Join us for this wonderfully fun and educational outing! Even if you can't take the bus we'd still love to have you join us!
Last year the students enjoyed a tour of the State House and heard some great speakers. So please consider joining us for this wonderful rally!
