The Wise Online Academy 200 Series is an advanced level training program, which will provide an intensive course of study guided by a professional mentor and participation in student cohorts.

The program is intended for employment professionals with some experience and training in the field and wish to continue to develop their skills to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain employment to become contributing members of their communities.

Program Goals:

  • Increase the competence of employment professionals
  • Increase employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Provide staff an opportunity for relationship building and networking
  • Develop a network of future leaders in supported employment

Program Details:

  • The program is offered in 3 sequential 6-week courses from November 2022 to April 2023
  • Student Commitment will be about 15 hours per month
  • Course work will consist of live small group participation, on-demand modules, and assignments to be completed outside of class. 
  • Live class and cohort sessions held via Zoom, Mondays and Thursdays

Program Cost per Student:

  • $2500.00 Early Bird Fee (ends 9/30/22)
  • $2750.00 Fee

Program Schedule: 

Course 1: Historical Perspectives of Community Employment and Discovery

The history, values, public policy, individualized planning and systematic instruction advances that have influenced the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities into work and community life.

Course 2: Essentials of Job Development and Marketing

The process of developing community integrated jobs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Engaging with employers from a business perspective and representing job seekers and yourself professionally and competently.

Course 3: Systematic Instruction and Retention Supports

Systematic instruction is an evidence-based method for teaching individuals with disabilities through the process of breaking a skill down into individaul components. This class will also cover creative problem solving, promoting independence and fostering natural supports in the workplace to assist individuals to be successful on their jobs.
