Florida Standards Practicality for Teachers Makes Learning Meaningful
Presenters will share their practical approach for enhancing rigorous learning expectations for all students. Results over two years indicate that this systematic process for planning and implementing instruction simplifies teachers’ work, increases collaboration and ownership, and makes learning more accessible and more meaningful to all students.

Speakers:

 Rose Taylor
Rose Taylor is a former school and school district administrator who remains active in schools and school districts to support principals in improving teacher effectiveness and student learning outcomes. She is widely published in practitioner and scholarly journals and regularly presents in national and international venues.


Mark Shanoff
Dr. Mark Shanoff serves as the principal of Ocoee Middle School in Orange County. Ocoee Middle is Florida’s State Demonstration School for technology and an Apple Distinguished School. He has served as a principal in Orange County at the elementary and middle grades since 2008. Prior to that, he served as an assistant principal for three and a half years at Ivey Lane Elementary School, also in Orange County. Dr. Shanoff earned his B.A. in Elementary Education from Rollins College, his M.S. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, his MBA from University of Florida, and his Ed. D from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Shanoff currently serves as President-Elect of the Florida Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals. He is the President of the Orange County Association of School Administrators and sits on the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of School Administrators. He previously served as the President of the Orange County Association of Elementary School Principals (2011-2013).

The presentation by Mark and Rose is represented in the text Leading, Teaching, and Learning the Common Core Standards along with other research-based practices for leading and assisting teachers to improve student learning. Having the text to support their presentation and for follow up will be helpful.
