The 20 Mile March to a Successful Florida Standards Implementation
This session will demonstrate a plan used by Lost Lake Elementary that can be duplicated for rolling out the Florida Standards. The model is based on the principles of Jim Collins book Great by Choice. These principals include the "20 Mile March" to success with mile markers for successful implementation, developing goals and non-negotiables, being consistent and staying the course, including training, extensive preparation and a timeline for effective implementation. Using Collins' triad a school can be successful in teaching and learning using the Florida Standards.

Rhonda Hunt
Rhonda has served Lake County Schools for 11 years: Principal 9 years, Curriculum Director 2 years.  She is currently the Principal at Lost Lake elementary.

Chad Frazier
Chad has served Lake County Schools for 9½ years: 7½ years middle school teacher, Academic Dean 1 year.  He is currently the Assistant Principal at Lost Lake Elementary.

Susan Emrick
Susan has served Lake County Schools for 14 years; Teacher, National Board Certified, Literacy Endorsement, Instructor for Peer Coaching for Lake County Schools.  She is currently a Literacy Coach Lost Lake Elementary.
