Nurses and the Affordable Care Act 

Please join Iota Upsilon for an evening with Attorney Ian Hunter for a discussion of the Affordable Care Act. Attorney Hunter will explain how the law came to be, the politics behind the law, what is included in the law, changes we have seen and work to be done and the role of Nurses. Question and answer session to follow.

A light dinner and beverages will be served.

About the Speaker:  Ian Hunter, Esq., Director of Federal Legislative Affairs

Ian Hunter is the Director of Federal Legislative Affairs for the National Patient Advocate Foundation (NPAF).  Prior to joining NPAF, Mr. Hunter spent three years at the United States Office of Personnel Management, where he played a key role in the implementation of several Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions, including the Federal Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, the Multi-State Plan Program, and
the extension of federal insurance benefits to Native American Tribes and tribal organizations.  Mr. Hunter also worked with congressional staff to advance Administration positions on ACA and other federal health care matters, and prepared Administration officials to testify before House and Senate committees. 

Mr. Hunter also has legislative experience, most recently with the US Senate Permanent Subcommittee
on Investigations, and prior to that in the offices of Senator Edward M. Kennedy and Massachusetts State Senator James Timilty.  Mr. Hunter holds a Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He received his bachelors degree in
Criminology and Law from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts.
