Please join California Chapter 1, American Academy of Pediatrics for its Annual Spring CME Conference: Ask the Experts! Pediatricians, family practitioners, nurses, nurse practitioners, and Physicians-in-Training are invited to receive the latest updates on short stature, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and irritable bowel syndrome in children from lectures, case studies, and breakout Q&As with our faculty.

Suruchi Bhatia, MD
Pediatric Endocrinology at Stanford Medicine Children's Health 

Suruchi Bhatia is a pediatric endocrinologist at Stanford Children’s Health.  She grew up in New Mexico and attended UC Berkeley where she  majored in Biochemistry and then Baylor College of Medicine. She  completed her pediatric residency at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital  and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Stanford. She has worked in the East Bay and San Francisco since 2001. Her interests include endocrine disorders involving growth and puberty and thyroid issues as well as diabetes care for children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. She lives in Oakland and enjoys hiking, cooking and gardening with her family.



 Jenifer Matthews, MD
 Pediatrics & Integrative Medicine at University of California, San Francisco
. 

 Dr. Jenifer Matthews is an Integrative Pediatrician at UCSF Benioff   Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Matthews completed an Integrative   Medicine Scholars Program at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative   Medicine and is trained in acupuncture as well as pediatric hypnosis. Dr.   Matthews works with her colleagues in the Gastroenterology Department to offer herbal medicine, acupuncture, as well as mind-body modalities to   patients in an Integrative Gastroenterology clinic. In her research,   Matthews studies how best to implement pediatric acupuncture and integrative medicine in caring for children who are underserved by traditional and complementary medical systems. Dr. Matthews is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncturists and is studying towards a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. 


 Rosie Monardo, MD
 Obstetrics & Gynecology at John Muir Health

 Rosie Monardo, MD is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with the   John Muir Medical Specialty Group. She has offices in Orinda and   Berkeley.

 She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and   completed her residency training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine   at University of Hawaii.  In residency, Rosie was the Chief Administrative Resident, the Junior Fellow Chair of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hawaii Section, and the Co-Chair of the Graduate Medical Council.  She received the Ryan Family Planning Award, Outstanding Resident Award and AAGL Laparoscopic Resident Surgeon award.

In her practice at John Muir, Dr. Monardo is the physician lead of the OBGYN division of the John Muir Medical Specialty Group.  She is also the Chair of the John Muir Medical Specialty Group Quality Committee.  Dr. Monardo enjoys taking care of women throughout their lives and is passionate about adolescent and pediatric gynecology, family planning, minimally invasive surgery and natural, safe childbirth. 


 Vivien Nguyen, MD

 Pediatric Gastroenterology at University of California, San Francisco

 Dr. Vivien Nguyen is a pediatric gastroenterologist who specializes in the   care of children with intestinal failure, feeding problems, and functional   gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Nguyen co-directs the Nutrition Support   and Intestinal Rehabilitation Clinic and the Aerodigestive Clinic at UCSF   Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.  

She earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and completed a residency and chief residency at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. While at CHLA, she conducted research on the innate immune response and inflammatory bowel disease. She also has a bachelor's degree in biomedical and biochemical engineering from the University of Southern California. Dr. Nguyen belongs to NASPGHAN, AGA, and ASPEN.
