Local CROSS Mission & Service Week

WHERE: LOCAL here in Decatur and surrounding areas. We will go to two different ministry sites each day to support, work with and build relationships with DPC's local mission partners.

Want to participate from home? You can also join us virtually for our program time and will be given ways to engage in service and mission from home. If you would like an at home/virtual option please email Allysen directly.

WHEN: Sunday June 27-Wednesday June 30, 2021

Registration preferred by April 18th so that transportation and ministry sites can be reserved. (Spots will remain open for later sign ups)

WHO: All DPC youth completing 5th-12th grades this school year

Youth will be divided up into two groups for mission and service activities (Middle School group will be 5th-7th graders and High School Group will be 8th-12th graders)

WHAT: 4 days of engaging in mission and relationship building in and around Decatur. We will be partnering with the CROSS Missions program who will lead much of our programming locally. Each day will include a morning program, 2 ministry sites, lunch and an afternoon program/activity. From Clarkston to the State Capital, from Mercy Community Church and Clifton Shelter to our very own Threshold Ministry, DPC's youth will engage in relational ministry

What is CROSS Missions all about?: We strive to cross over boundaries that divide us, cross out stereotypes that judge us, and share Christ’s love.   Why?

We envision a world where Jesus’ command to love our neighbor is central to the message and the work of the Church. We believe that young people can live out this message and extend it beyond Charlotte by actively partnering with service agencies. By working symbiotically with service agencies, young adults can lead the way for the Church to be the beacon of good news our communities need and in the process gain a scriptural understanding of social justice. We are called to break down the divides that seperate us and in its place promote reconciliation. We do this through courageous and welcoming encounters that build and deepen relationships with others.

COST: $200/youth. This includes transportation, supplies, lunch and our registration fee with the CROSS missions program who will help coordinate our daily programs and activities and send us one of their college interns to help lead our group locally. Confidential Scholarships available. By signing up for the mission week you will be responsible for the full cost if you are not able to attend unless DPC is able to get a refund from CROSS or fill your spot.
