2017-2018 IPCP Building Skills for Effective Teams-Cohort 4

When is the Building Skills for Effective Teams (BSET) being held?

This yearlong Building Skills for Effective Teams (BSET) Program will include four 2.5 day workshops focused on providing and practicing in real-time an expanded set of skills and abilities needed to develop, lead and be part of effective inter-professional teams.  Each team must consist of two providers which could include primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practioners, and dentists.  These workshops will be combined with ongoing coaching by trained coaches and a capstone project.

The BSET dates for 2019-2020 will be:

  • June 26-28, 2019
  • August 21-23, 2019
  • October 23-25, 2019
  • December 11-13, 2019
  • Capstone Celebration: June 5, 2020

Participant teams must attend all four BSET workshops, for the curriculum is integrated and builds on itself over time.

What will I learn in this workshop?

The BSET Program will cover a wide range of subjects and skills aimed at developing the team-specific skills that are essential to the operations of an affective IPCP healthcare team.  The content will be presented by expert faculty using a variety of teaching styles and presentation formats, including group activities, role playing, team exercises and more.

Building Skills for Effective Teams Registration and Financial Policies

The administration fee for the 2019-2020 BSET workshops will be $300 (includes all four workshops). Registration is not considered complete until payment is received.  The due date for payment is June 19, 2019, one week before the workshop.  If payment has not been received by this date, the registration will be released.  If payment is received in the last week AND there is space available the participant may join the class.  If payment has not been received by the day of class, the participant will not be allowed to attend, even if space is available.

Cancellation Policy: If a participant cancels 30 or more days prior, they will receive a 95% refund, less a 5% administration fee. If they cancel 15-29 days prior, they will receive a 90% refund, less a 10% administration fee. If a participant cancels 14 days or less prior, all fees are completely non-refundable.

Attendance

Participants must be present for all hours of the BSET.  For a "no-show" or if a participant misses more than 2 hours, they will not be allowed to continue in the BSET.  There will be no partial make-up arrangements made and no refund of tuition funds will occur.

How do I get more information?

For more information on the BSET content and curriculum, contact Deb Center, Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence.  303-715-0343 #14 or Deb@ColoradoNursingCenter.org.

For more information on CHC's and training opportunities, please contact Katie Ventura, CCHN Health Center Operations Division Assistant.  303-867-9517 or kventura@cchn.org

For general information, please contact Michelle Cheuvront, Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence.
303-715-0343 #20 or Michelle@ColoradoNursingCenter.org.

CHCs interested in this training opportunity but unable to meet the two provider requirement should email Deb Center (Center for Nursing Excellence, Education Program Director) at Deb@ColoradoNursingCenter.org with an explanation of why it is not possible to send two providers and a list of the staff positions of the team you are interested in sending. The Center will make a determination on potential exceptions to the two provider requirement on a case by case basis. Individual CHC circumstances will be considered in addition to the deliverables outlined in the HRSA grant.

The BSET Leadership Development Program (LDP) is also an option for those that are not able to send two providers for all sessions.  LDP will include similar BSET content topics via class and web-based sessions and will have a reduced out of clinic time.  LDP is not replacing the standard BSET training, but rather is designed to be ab option for CHCs that may not otherwise be able to participate.  LDP participants can choose to participate in the LDP only, or they can also serve as a provider for a BSET team.  For more information, contact Katie Ventura.
