The 3rd Annual Love Akron Awards Breakfast

The Love Akron Network, a broad coalition of professional clergy and Christian leaders in both the public and private sectors, is pleased to welcome Reverend Dr. Ronald J. Fowler and Pastor Knute Larson as keynote speakers for their third annual awards event on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

This event, which was attended by over 650 people last year, is meant to recognize the extraordinary leadership, deep faith, and community contributions of the late and beloved Honorable Judge Brenda Burnham Unruh.  The Unruh Servant Award was named in her honor and this year will be given to Judge Carla Moore, in recognition of her outstanding Christian character and outreach to the Akron community.  Judge Moore, the first African-American female judge in Summit County, sits on the Ninth District Court of Appeals.  She has volunteered as a member of several local boards, including Akron Community Foundation and Leadership Akron.  She also serves as a mentor to many young women, including former offenders and addicts who are looking to change their lives.

Dottie Achmoody, CEO of Open M, and Perry Clark, President and Founder of Truly Reaching You Ministries, will be recognized as this year’s recipients of the Fowler-Larson Allies Award.  This award recognizes the leadership and intentional, bridge-building relationship of Reverends Fowler and Larson.  Mrs. Achmoody and Mr. Clark have established both a friendship and partnership that spans gender and racial differences while they and their organizations work to better the lives of the residents of South Akron.  Most recently they have taken the lead as founding members of the Summit County Community and Faith Leadership Initiative: Ohio Team-Northeast.  This initiative is a collaboration of faith-based and community-based organizations, advocacy groups, government entities and others that serve as a convener, clearinghouse, and catalyst for the formation of diverse, mutually beneficial partnerships and initiatives that serve all persons impacted by substance abuse and mental health disorders throughout Summit County.

YEPAW will bless us with pre-breakfast music, and we will have the privilege of hearing once again from Pastors Larson and Fowler.  We hope you'll join us as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary Year of ministry in the Greater Akron Area.

Online Registration is now closed.  We are at capacity for this event.  Please contact the office if you would like to be placed on a waiting list or if you have any questions.
