The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is preparing for “Under the Sea 2013”—our major annual fundraising event —to help support the Museum educational programs. This yearly event is regarded as one of the season’s best and always draws a sell-out crowd with over 200 participants from the island. It’s also one of the year’s earliest community events and signals the onset of Sanibel’s “high season” making it a great way to start your company’s marketing campaign!

This year’s event will be held at The Sanctuary on Sunday, January 27^th, from 5 – 10 p.m. and features a Beatles Tribute Band, a live and silent auction, and has the theme “Under the Sea: In an Octopus’s Garden with You.”  Sponsorship of the event is pivotal to our success, and we invite you to sponsor the event!

Every year, more than 2,000 children from the Lee County District Schools tour the Museum. This program is funded by its Adopt-a-Class program, and encompasses virtually all fourth-graders in the local public school system. The Museum also offers School Shell Collection Kits at cost to educational organizations. Over 2,200 kits and teachers’ guides have been distributed throughout the world.
