Help support The Arc and UCP's 13th Annual California Public Policy Conference, April 27, 28, and 29th, 2020 with a sponsorship contribution.  Our ability to host this important event depends on contributions from people and organizations just like yours.

Who We Are:

The Arc of California is part of The Arc of the United States, the nation’s oldest and largest organization advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We were formally established in 1950 and were instrumental in passage of the Lanterman Act in 1969 which created a system of services and supports for people with intellectual disabilities. We have 20 chapters throughout California which provide a range of services, information and referral, training, and support for individuals and families. We are known as leaders in the quest to preserve our service system, to advocate for inclusion of individuals with disabilities in their communities, and to protect their rights.

About the Annual Developmental Disabilities Public Policy Conference:

For thirteen years The Arc and United Cerebral Palsy California Collaboration has co-sponsored the Developmental Disabilities Public Policy Conference. This conference seeks to educate those who attend and to empower them to become advocates for people with I/DD through increased knowledge and support. Speakers are nationally known experts in their field who are leading in the effort to promote policies that improve the systems and services enabling people with I/DD to live inclusively in their communities. Attendees include governmental officials, leaders within the I/DD community at all levels, individuals with I/DD, family members, Direct Support Professionals, and academicians.

How Your Sponsorship Helps People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities:

Sustainability of a reliable, robust, and responsive system of service and supports is critical to the well-being of individuals with I/DD and their families. This is accomplished through a continual and dynamic exchange of ideas and sharing of best practices and research through presentations by national experts, which is a goal of the Public Policy Conference. The diversity of the audience enriches the discussion and enables the voice of persons with I/DD to be heard by decision-makers, therefore influencing policy.
