Advanced Battery Recycling Policy Committee Meeting

NAATBatt International, in cooperation with SAE International, will hold an organizational meeting of the NAATBatt Advanced Battery Recycling Policy Committee next month during The Battery Show. The Committee will work to create a coordinated industry response to increasing public calls for the recycling of high voltage lithium-ion battery systems used in automotive, industrial and stationary energy storage (ESS) applications.

NAATBatt believes that several government agencies are actively considering possible regulation of lithium-ion battery sales in order to require recycling. Any such regulation is likely to impose significant costs on the sale of lithium-ion battery systems. Those additional costs will dampen market demand for such systems.

Industry needs to get ahead of government on this issue in order to avoid unnecessarily burdensome regulation. The Advanced Battery Recycling Policy Committee will attempt to create and implement an industry-led recycling program for high voltage lithium-ion and other advanced battery systems. That program will seek to address legitimate public concerns about battery lifecycle management while imposing a minimum burden on the growing advanced battery market.

All interested stakeholders are invited to attend this organizational meeting. There is no charge to participate. But you must register for the meeting, by clicking the "Register Now!" button below.

If your company is not currently a NAATBatt member, you are still welcome to attend the organizational meeting. But please apply for membership soon in order to help support industry initiatives such as this one. Click here to apply for NAATBatt membership today.
