June ASL Class: Idioms

It is important to first define the term idiom as "A speech form or an expression of a given language that is peculiar to itself grammatically or cannot be understood from the individual meanings of its elements."  In ASL there are many ways to share an expression, and idioms are used as expressions in much the same way as they are in English. However, in ASL expressions are stated manually, which means that they are seen differently.  Some of the signs have an exact English equivalent and some don't. The ones that don't, however, are quite similar to an English expression. In this class, we'll learn how to use idioms in their proper context and be sure you're conveying your message correctly.

This is a great class for all ASL skill levels. Come prepared with a list of idioms you'd like to know! (Interpreter provided)
