Teaching with Primary Sources and Your Library

When used effectively, primary sources can open a world of possibilities in the classroom. When students have opportunities to approach sources as historians do, history becomes an art and a mystery — rather than a series of lifeless facts. Join us in learning tips and strategies for using Primary Sources in all curricula.

The mission of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program is to: build awareness of the Library’s educational initiatives; provide content that promotes the effective educational use of the Library’s resources; and offer access to and promote sustained use of the Library’s educational resources.

Our Presenter, Judy Bee, is the Associate Director for the Teaching with Primary Sources Midwest Region at Illinois State University funded by the Library of Congress. She educates certified and pre-service teachers, media specialists, librarians and college faculty on how to integrate primary sources into standards-based activities and lessons.  She is currently working toward a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration with a focus on effective professional development. She earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Xavier University.  She also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and is certified in K-9 education.  She has twenty-three years of teaching experience and has taught grades Pre-K through 16.
This event is open to all educators. Bring a friend!  When registering, please be sure to include your preferences for lunch.Register Now!
