12.4.19 The Efficient Home Part 2 (3.0 CE Hours)

During this course you will learn: the 1%, 3% rule for home maintenance and repair. We'll explore hot-water-on-demand water heaters, heat pumps, geothermal, and home automation. Learn key terms involved in sustainable housing including transit oriented community, compact community, greenhouse gas, carbon footprint and embodied energy. Understand basic passive solar management including house exposure, shading, role of trees, awnings and roof overhangs, natural task lighting, thermal mass, and radiant barriers. Learn about two emerging technologies - solar electric and solar hot water.
