Nature's Explorers in Buena Vista 

Join us for Nature's Explorers, a summer in nature with hands-on activities, games, art, journaling, and of course, exploring!  We will meet at a central location in downtown BV and take a Chaffee Shuttle to our field trip locations. 

Ages: Rising Kindergartners - Rising 3rd Graders

Meeting Location: Buena Vista Community Center, 715 E. Main St, Buena Vista

Time:  9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

3 Session Series:

June 11-  Our Watershed @ Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center.  Explore a wetlands area near the Arkansas River!  Learn about this unique ecosystem and the life cycles of aquatic insects as well as mammals who make the Arkansas Valley home!

June 18- The Life of Fish @ Chalk Cliff Fish Hatchery and Wright Lake State Wildlife AreaExplore the life of trout, and learn wilderness skills such as shelter building, outdoor cooking, and Leave No Trace Skills.

June 25-  Geology and Navigation @ Browns Canyon and Ruby Mountain Campground.  Explore the trails of Browns Canyon and learn about erosion and rocks through building models!  We will also take a look at maps and compasses to complete a compass scavenger hunt.

 

Cost: $105 for all 3 sessions or  $35 / session
