Stay on top of changes and developments.  This seminar will focus on four current topics.

PCAOB inspection findings:  We will cover the results of the recent PCAOB inspection process and how it impacts the audit. The inspections continued to focus on themes in the areas of documentation and testing internal controls specifically on review controls and electronic audit evidence.

Fraud and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act – We will cover the importance of understanding the different fraud schemes and our responsibility as auditors in uncovering fraud. This will also cover the meaning, importance and consequences of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Data privacy security – This will cover an introduction to information security, identity and access management and importance of data privacy.

Emerging risk – We will cover the considerations on how the internal audit function can add value and provide insight to management in addressing emerging risks. This also includes the different emerging risks to watch out for.

Seminar Speakers:

Shannon Urban is an Executive Director in the Risk Advisory Services practice of EY in Boston.  She is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds the Certificate in Risk Management Assurance.  She has 20 years of experience in internal audit, enterprise risk assessment, and control design and assessment.  She specializes in assisting organizations to understand and assess risks within their operations, assessing the design of processes and controls, and providing tailored solutions.

Robert Otten is a senior manager with EY’s National Advisory practice. He has fifteen years experience leading teams in information security, IT governance, and risk and compliance management. Some of Robert’s previous accomplishments include implementing information security programs and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions to respond to highly complex challenges faced by Healthcare providers, state agencies, and Fortune 100 organizations.

Joann Marbella is a senior manager in EY's Financial Services Offices and has 10 years of experience in providing assurance services to insurance industry clients. Her primary experience includes audits of Life and Property & Casualty insurance companies. In addition, Joann has five years of experience in SOX 404 testing in accordance with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board requirement on testing internal control over financial reporting for certain companies.

Katerina Reynolds is a manager in EY’s Financial Services Offices and has six years of experience in providing assurance services to insurance industry clients.  Her primary experience includes audits of Property & Casualty and Healthcare insurance companies.  In addition, Katerina has two years of experience of providing assurance services to public corporations in rental and leasing industry.
