LOCATION: Hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway down the Sparta Trail to connect with the MST

HIKE DESCRIPTION: Beautiful shaded trail with lots of interesting vegetation; kid and dog friendly.
LENGTH OF HIKE: 2-3 Miles
DIFFICULTY: Moderate
MEETING LOCATION: Mile Marker 234 on the Blue Ridge Parkway across from Mahogany Rock Road.

STICK AROUND SPARTA- A downtown Sparta street festival called Music on Main will be held Friday, September 6; several venues on Main Street begin at 6:00; main concert begins at 8:00. Street is generally blocked for dancing and strolling from venue to venue. Sparta and Alleghany County offer many opportunities to experience the small town feel with small local shops as a downtown mainstay and outdoor adventures with the Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River passing through the county.
