Sparta - MST Birthday Hike 

LOCATION: The hike will begin on the Blue Ridge Parkway following the Sparta Trail to connect to the MST.

TIME: Meet at 10 am on Saturday, September 7

HIKE DESCRIPTION: Beautiful shaded trail with lots of interesting vegetation; kid and dog friendly.

LENGTH OF HIKE: 2-3 Miles

DIFFICULTY: Moderate

MEETING LOCATION: Mile Marker 234 on the Blue Ridge Parkway across from Mahogany Rock Road

STICK AROUND SPARTA - Come to town early to enjoy a downtown Sparta street festival called Music on Main,  Friday, September 6; several venues on Main Street begin at 6:00; main concert begins at 8:00. Street is generally blocked for dancing and strolling from venue to venue.  Sparta and Alleghany County offer many opportunities to experience the small town feel with small local shops as a downtown mainstay and outdoor adventures with the Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River passing through the county.
