Raleigh/Hickory Hill MST Birthday Hike 


LOCATION: We will hike Falls Lake Sections 16 through 18 in reverse order. The hike will start from the right side of the parking lot at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission's Hickory Hill Boat Ramp off Redwood Road in Durham County and will end at the parking area off the shoulder of Cheek Road just before it goes across the bridge on Falls Lake. 

TIME: Meet at 9 am on Saturday, September 7th

HIKE DESCRIPTION: We will hike along fairly flat terrain on the MST in a mostly forested area with periodic views of Falls Lake. Well behaved dogs on a lease are welcome, also. 

 LENGTH OF HIKE: 2.9 Miles

DIFFICULTY: The hike is classified as easy due the flat terrain and relatively short distance.

MEETING LOCATION: Hickory Hill Board Ramp, Note: Redwood Road can be accessed from Exit 183 off I-85 from Durham or NC 50 to NC 98 to Patterson Road and to Cheek Road from Raleigh.  Right side of the parking lot at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission's Hickory Hill Boat Ramp off Redwood Road in Durham County (Hickory Hill Boat Ramp, Redwood Road, Durham, NC 27704).

HIKE LOGISTICS: The hike will end at the parking area off the shoulder of Cheek Road just before it goes across the bridge on Falls Lake. We will set up a shuttle from the end point back to the starting point prior to starting the hike. Note: Redwood Road can be accessed from Exit 183 off I-85 from Durham or NC 50 to NC 98 to Patterson Road and to Cheek Road from Raleigh.
